Yasmine Abou-El-Kheir
A roving librarian at large.

Hello,
a bit about me:
I'm currently the director of the Lapp Learning Commons at the Chicago Theological Seminary. I earned an MS in Library and Information Science from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign and an MA in Islamic Studies from the Claremont School of Theology. I hold graduate certificates in special collections and online teaching and I'm working towards another in digital curation.

Prior to becoming an academic librarian, I worked for ten years in the nonprofit sector in the US, Canada and Egypt. I developed and/or managed programs in the areas of cultural heritage, youth engagement, digital literacy, employment training, family empowerment, women’s reproductive health, domestic violence and elderly care.

Outside of work, I am an avid tea drinker. I love hitting the bike trails when the Chicago weather permits. And, I relish losing myself in books - a real treat when you have kids.
